3D Mammograms

3D mammograms use low dose X-rays obtained at different angles to create a detailed 3-Dimensional image of the breast capable of detecting the most subtle variations in tissue.

Ultrasounds

Ultrasound is an imaging exam that uses sound waves (instead of X-rays) to evaluate breast lumps such as cysts or masses or to find abnormalities within dense breast tissue that may not be visible by a screening mammogram alone.

Biopsy

A biopsy is performed to determine if an imaging abnormality is benign (noncancerous) or malignant (cancer). These biopsies are minimally invasive and often referred to as “band aid” procedures.

Preventive Care

Preventive breast care, such as routine screening mammograms, are crucial as they can help detect breast cancer at an early stage, when it is most treatable. This leads to better outcomes for patients. Screening mammograms can help monitor changes in the breast tissue over time, and identify masses, microcalcifications, or subtle architectural changes, which may require additional evaluation.

Abnormal Findings

If an abnormality is detected on a screening mammogram or if a patient presents with a breast complaint, then, diagnostic mammographic views, ultrasound, or MRI will be requested for a “closer look”. The diagnostic imaging tools we choose will depend on many factors, such as breast tissue density, personal risk factors, or family history. The radiologist or your referring clinician can advise which exam would be right for you.

Diagnostic Testing

A biopsy is a minimally invasive procedure in which a small sample of tissue is removed for microscopic examination. Biopsies are used to distinguish benign (non-cancerous) versus malignant (cancerous) cells. Breast Biopsies may be performed under Ultrasound, Stereotactic, or MRI guidance. Other organs such as the Thyroid may also be easily biopsied.
